
In a solemn and symbolic ceremony, the Air Maintenance Command (CAMAN) commemorated 101 years of existence, consolidating its position as a fundamental technical and logistical pillar in the history of military aviation in Colombia.
Founded in 1924 in the municipality of Madrid, Cundinamarca, CAMAN is the oldest Military Air Unit of the Colombian Aerospace Force. For more than a century, it has played a strategic role in the maintenance, repair and modernization of the air fleet, guaranteeing the operability and safety of aircraft at the service of the country.
The anniversary day began with a floral tribute to Major Justino Mariño Cuesto, a pioneer of national aviation. It was followed by a solemn mass, and in the afternoon the main ceremony, presided by Major General Alfonso Lozano Ariza, Inspector General of the Colombian Aerospace Force, and Colonel Javier Hernán Jiménez Garzón, commander of CAMAN.
During the event, the tireless work of the men and women who are part of this unit was recognized, exalting their commitment, professionalism and dedication. Officers, NCOs, Soldiers and civilian personnel were distinguished with medals and honorable mentions for their valuable contribution to the institutional mission.
On this new anniversary, CAMAN also reaffirmed its social vocation, highlighting its humanitarian and medical support to the vulnerable populations of the Sabana de Occidente. This solidarity component complements its technical mission, demonstrating the positive impact of the Aerospace Force on the Colombian social fabric.
Under the slogan "A century of commitment, a future of excellence. Ad Astra"The Air Maintenance Command continues to project itself as a key unit for the technological, operational and social development of the Armed Forces.
