
In the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops from the Jungle Battalion No. 57 of the Eleventh Brigade of the National Army, in coordination with the Criminal and Judicial Investigation Section of the National Police, managed to capture alias Julyalleged micro-trafficking coordinator of the Uldar Cardona Rueda substructure, belonging to the Clan del Golfo Organized Armed Group.
The operation was carried out in the village of Puerto Jobo, municipality of Zaragoza (Antioquia), where the arrest was made by court order for the offense of aggravated conspiracy to commit an aggravated felony. The action was the result of intelligence work that led to the identification and location of the subject, who had a criminal record of approximately ten years.
Alias Julio began as a criminal observer between 2015 and 2020, reporting on law enforcement movements and gathering information for criminal activities. Subsequently, he moved up to logistical functions in micro-trafficking, including the storage, packaging and distribution of illicit substances such as coca base paste y marijuana.
In recent years, it assumed operational control of the collection centers and delivery points, consolidating itself as a key player for the Gulf Clan structure in the municipalities of Zaragoza and El Bagre.
With his arrest, the accounting and logistical control of drug trafficking in the region is directly affected, weakening the armed group's illicit economies and generating possible internal disorganization. Alias Julio was handed over to the competent judicial authorities, who will continue with the corresponding investigations.
The National Army reaffirms its commitment to security in Bajo Cauca Antioquia and will continue to carry out offensive operations against organized armed groups that threaten the tranquility of the civilian population and public order in this sub-region of the country.
