Task Force Omega's operations allowed for the controlled destruction of improvised explosives, avoiding risks to the civilian population and the security forces.
As part of the development of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Colombian National Army, through the Omega Task Force, successfully executed two military operations in the departments of Meta and Caquetá, which resulted in the neutralization of four improvised explosive devices.
In the village of Peñas Coloradas in the municipality of Cartagena del Chairá, Caquetá, units of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 12 located three unexploded munitions, previously launched, which were safely destroyed on site.
On the other hand, in the village of Puerto Chorizo, in Vista Hermosa (Meta), the Rapid Deployment Force No. 11 found a cylinder-type improvised explosive device, which was also deactivated in a controlled manner by teams specialized in detonations and explosive ordnance disposal.
Authorities indicate that the device found in Meta would be linked to the Marco Aurelio Buendía structure of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, an illegal armed organization that seeks to impose its territorial presence to strengthen illicit economies in the region.
These actions have been key to neutralize possible attacks against the civilian population and military units, strengthening security and stability in this strategic area of the country.
Task Force Omega reaffirms its commitment to peace and the protection of citizens, intensifying offensive operations in the departments of Meta, Caquetá and Guaviare.
