A military operation in the village of Potras del Quebradón, in the municipality of La Macarena (Meta), led to the seizure of an arsenal of weapons belonging to the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, significantly weakening its operational and logistical capabilities. The action is part of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan.
The operation was carried out by the National Army's Task Force Omega, in coordination with the Colombian Aerospace Force, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office. After an exhaustive inter-institutional intelligence work, it was possible to locate an illegal arms depot in a rural area.
During the search, an alleged member of the Arturo Ruiz structure was captured, who was allegedly directly linked to the criminal activities of this organized armed group.
The following war materials were found and seized at the site:
A specialized explosives team from Rapid Deployment Force No. 12 proceeded with the controlled destruction of the explosive devices at the same site, while the rest of the arsenal was extracted in a National Army aircraft.
After the operation, troops were harassed by members of the armed group, which provoked a confrontation in which the military units had no news.
According to official information, this material was to be used to carry out terrorist attacks against the civilian population and the security forces. With this action, the plans of alias Calarcá, the main leader of the structure, were neutralized and his actions in the southeast of the country were weakened.
The National Army continues to carry out offensive operations to guarantee security and protect the lives of the inhabitants of the departments of Meta, Caquetá and Guaviare, thus reinforcing the institutional presence in areas affected by the conflict.
