
This Tuesday, the city of Cordoba hosted the official reception ceremony of the urbanization and fencing works of the future Army Logistics Base (BLET), one of the most ambitious projects within the framework of the Project Army 2035. The infrastructure, key to the logistical transformation of the Armed Forces, also symbolizes a firm commitment to economic, technological and territorial development.
The ceremony, presided over by the Secretary of State for Defense, Amparo Valcarce, was attended by civilian and military authorities, as well as representatives of the business sector involved. The first phase of the works has involved an investment of 27.7 million eurosThe work included clearing, leveling, compacting, backfilling, installation of sewage networks and conditioning of the coastal path with its drainage system.
These works, which began on December 15, 2023 following the transfer of land by the City Council, prepare the ground for what will be one of the most important the country's most important military infrastructuresThe project is expected to be completed in 2028.
During the ceremony, the Director General of Infrastructure, Lieutenant General Luis Cebrián Carbonell, highlighted the importance of the project not only from an operational perspective, but also as a driver of innovation, skilled employment and territorial cohesion.
The Secretary of State for Defense stressed that BLET is much more than a military facility:
"We are not just talking about infrastructure: we are talking about talent, industry, innovation and future opportunities for our territories."
Companies such as IndraThe company, a benchmark in technology and defense, has already begun to establish itself in the province with the creation of new centers specialized in ground-based radars, space-based radars, anti-drone systems and advanced control centersThe company's presence in Cordoba, consolidating Cordoba as a strategic pole for the national defense industry.
BLET is destined to become a logistics center of reference in Spain and EuropeThe project has also become a lever of transformation for Cordoba, by integrating the business fabric, academic capabilities and technological development around a common project of national interest.
