
The National Government of Ecuador, through the Security Block, has held a high-level meeting with authorities from the U.S. State Department to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the face of organized crime and regional threats. The objective: to consolidate a common front in defense of national security and citizen peace.
The meeting was led by the Minister of National Defense, Gian Carlo Loffredo, and the Minister of the Interior, John Reimberg, who met with Cartwright Weiland, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.

Both delegations discussed the common challenges they face in the region, especially the fight against criminal organizations responsible for drug trafficking, cross-border crimes and international criminal networks. The strategies discussed are aimed at a more effective and coordinated joint response.
This meeting marks a firm step in the consolidation of international alliances that strengthen the security of Ecuador. The National Government ratifies its commitment to work tirelessly for the peace, well-being and protection of all Ecuadorian families.
