In a joint operation on July 29 in Ecuador's Exclusive Economic Zone, authorities intercepted a suspicious vessel and recovered 54 sacks of suspected controlled substances, strengthening the fight against organized crime.
During routine patrols, Air and Coast Guard units of the Security Block - made up of the Ecuadorian Navy and the National Police - detected an unidentified vessel that took evasive action when it noticed the presence of the authorities.
In the midst of the maritime pursuit, the occupants of the vessel threw several packages into the sea. The Coast Guard units proceeded to immediately recover the packages, managing to rescue a total of 54 jute bags with suspicious contents, presumably scheduled controlled substances (SCSF).
The Security Block reiterated its commitment to the defense of national sovereignty and the direct fight against transnational organized crime. The operation highlights the effective coordination of security forces to protect both Ecuador's continental territory and maritime spaces.
