The Ministry of Defense highlights advances in armament assembly plants, optical sights and special vehicles.
As part of the promotion of the modernization of the national defense industry, the Vice Minister of Defense Resources, Eng. Adolfo Herrera Orlandini, made a technical visit to the facilities of the Fábrica de Armas y Municiones del Ejército S.A.C. (FAME S.A.C.), where he verified the progress made in the assembly areas of rifles, optical sights and special vehicles.
Strategic alliances and national technology
During the tour, the Vice Minister was accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of FAME S.A.C., Major General Oswaldo Calle Talledo; the General Director of Material Resources of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Paul Vera Delzo; as well as officials from the FONAFE Corporation and the Defense sector.
The delegation appreciated the benefits of the strategic alliances that FAME S.A.C. has established with renowned international companies, prioritizing the inclusion of national suppliers and Peruvian labor in all phases of the projects.
New capabilities for national defense
One of the highlights was the verification of the progress in the implementation of the new assembly plant for special vehicles, which will mark a transcendental step in Peru's industrial autonomy in the defense sector.
In addition, the process of adapting the company's shooting ranges, which are essential for the effective training of the Peruvian Armed Forces and National Police, was supervised.
Commitment to national development
Prior to the tour, the Vice Minister held a working meeting with the General Manager of FAME S.A.C., Colonel (r) Jorge Zapata Vargas, and the members of the Board of Directors of the company, where the main projects aimed at strengthening its industrial capabilities, in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Defense, were presented.
FAME S.A.C. is consolidated as a strategic public company, dedicated to the development, manufacture, assembly and modernization of weapons systems, ammunition, vehicles and technology for military and police use, playing a fundamental role in the sovereignty and security of the country.
