
Quito, June 26, 2025. - After an operation of more than 10 hours led by the Security Block, alias "Fito" was recaptured in Manabí and transferred to the Guayas No. 3 Prison, known as La Roca, a maximum security prison. This was confirmed by the Ministers of Defense, Gian Carlo Loffredo, and of the Interior, John Reimberg, during a press conference at the Carondelet Palace.
The President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, announced the recapture on the afternoon of June 25, highlighting the firmness of the State in its fight against drug trafficking. The capture took place in a house that concealed a subway bunker. According to Minister Reimberg, "alias Fito panicked because the roof of his bunker was collapsing. He opened the hatch where military personnel were already there and came out of the hole.
The Minister of Defense was blunt: "Fito fell and they will all fall". Loffredo questioned political sectors that have tried to weaken the legality of government actions, while he defended the legitimacy of the operation as a sign that the government "does not and will not make pacts with the mafias".
The government is now negotiating the extradition of Adolfo Macias, alias "Fito," to the United States. In addition, at the same press conference, it was reported that Interpol, with the support of the National Police and the Armed Forces, captured in the United Arab Emirates Roberto Carlos Álvarez Vera, leader of the Border Commandos and responsible for recent attacks against the military.
The Minister of the Interior warned the public not to approach the area around La Roca, since "any threat will be treated as such" by the strong military contingent deployed in the area.
