Thousands of citizens accompany Their Majesties the King and Queen in a parade full of symbolism, homage and unity.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife has welcomed with enthusiasm and emotion the central act of the Armed Forces Day 2025 (DIFAS), presided by Their Majesties the King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, together with the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles. This commemoration, which has been held again in the Canary archipelago after almost 40 years, brought together nearly 3,300 military personnel, more than 55 aircraft and a hundred vehicles.

A military parade full of symbolism

The parade, which covered one kilometer of the Avenida de la Constitución, was witnessed by thousands of citizens who, waving Spanish flags, gave a standing ovation to the participating units. The day began with the jump of the Parachuting Acrobatic Patrol of the Air Force (PAPEA), carrying a large national flag in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the proclamation of the King.

One of the novelties was the presence of the Eurocorps flag, carried by a Spanish officer and escorted by representatives of six European countries. The passage of the Legion with its characteristic accelerated march and its mascot 'Camarón' was one of the most applauded moments, together with the overflight of the Eagle Patrol that traced the national colors in the sky at the beginning and end of the act.

Tribute to the fallen and unity with society

In an emotional gesture, Minister Robles participated in a tribute to the military wounded and killed in the line of duty, accompanied by their families at the Captaincy General of the Canary Islands. "The affection and respect of the citizens towards our Armed Forces has been felt in every corner of this parade," she expressed.

Closing of a week of national celebration

This event culminates a week of celebrations in the archipelago, which began in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the naval review, in which the submarine S-81 'Isaac Peral' and the aircraft carrier 'Juan Carlos I' took part for the first time. In total, more than 4,400 troops have taken part in the DIFAS 2025 events, reaffirming the commitment of the Armed Forces to the citizens.
