The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, has maintained a new contact by videoconference with the commanders of the National Military Border Guard of Ukraine, thus reinforcing the channels of coordination and the firm commitment to support the country in conflict.
Accompanied by the Secretary General for Defense Policy, Admiral Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez, Minister Robles spoke with the head of the Ukrainian Border Guard, Lieutenant General Serhii Deineko, and his deputy, General Andriy Kucherenko. During the meeting they discussed the current conditions in the border areas, as well as the latest deliveries of essential material and humanitarian aid provided by Spain.
The minister reiterated that "Spain will be with Ukraine for as long as necessary", recalling that Spanish support includes not only military support, but also humanitarian measures aimed at the affected civilian population.
In this regard, Robles highlighted the rest program being developed at the Castellón Military Residence, where women and children of Ukrainian fighters can recover for two weeks from the psychological impact of the war. "We cannot leave alone those who defend democratic values," she stressed.
Both sides have agreed to hold such meetings on a regular basis to ensure an effective and adapted response to the evolving situation on the ground, strengthening the security of Ukrainian borders and bilateral cooperation.
