The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, highlighted the strategic importance of Indra's Technology Center in Vigo, within the framework of the promotion of national industry, talent and territorial structuring. The visit reinforces the Government's commitment to technological development linked to security and defense.
Accompanied by the Secretary of State for Defense, Amparo Valcarce, Robles stressed that centers like the one in Vigo are essential for the development of dual technology -for civil and military use- and to face security challenges in a complex international context. "These centers are vital to advance towards strategic autonomy and to support a Spanish industry of the highest level," she said.
During the visit, the Minister highlighted the connection between industry, institutions and universities, as a central part of the Security and Defense Plan approved by the Government. This plan is committed to retaining talent and generating qualified employment, through a network of industrial corridors that provide the backbone of territorial development.
Among the systems presented to the Ministry's delegation, the strategic command and control system for the European Union, as well as land and naval electronic warfare technologies stand out. In addition, the future Aerospace and Defense Center of Excellence, promoted by Indra in collaboration with the Zona Franca Consortium, which will employ more than 200 specialized professionals, was also presented.
