With an emotional protocol ceremony, the emblematic Sailing Training Ship B.A.P. \"Uni\u00f3n\" set sail on May 9 from the Callao Naval Base, officially starting the Overseas Training Trip - VIEX 2025. During this voyage, the vessel will visit 10 foreign ports and one national port, reinforcing its role as an itinerant embassy and symbol of Peruvian pride in the seas of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The farewell ceremony was presided over by the President of the Republic, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, and was attended by high-ranking State authorities, including the President of the Judiciary, Janet Tello Gilardi; the President of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianz\u00e9n Olaya; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmer Gonzalo Schialer Salcedo; the Minister of Defense, Walter Astudillo Ch\u00e1vez; and the Commander General of the Navy, Admiral Luis Jos\u00e9 Polar Figari, together with civilian and military representatives, diplomats and relatives of the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his speech, Admiral Polar Figari emphasized the great responsibility that falls on the commander of the B.A.P. \"Uni\u00f3n\" and her crew, not only in the safety of the ship, but also in the training of the cadets as future officers of the Peruvian Navy. He recalled that the sea demands sacrifice, courage and spirit of self-improvement, qualities that forge leaders prepared to serve their country. He also took the opportunity to pay tribute to Peruvian mothers on their day, especially naval mothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main objective of the VIEX 2025 is to complement the academic training of naval cadets, strengthening their character and seafaring vocation. During its voyage, the B.A.P. \"Uni\u00f3n\" will promote history, culture and the Peru Brand, contributing to the positioning of national products in international markets and promoting tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The voyage will last 178 days, with scheduled calls at important ports such as Balboa (Panama), Mayport (United States), London (England), Aberdeen (Scotland), Esbjerg (Denmark), Bremerhaven (Germany), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Liverpool (England), Dublin (Ireland), Vigo (Spain) and Matarani (Peru), before returning to Callao in November of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vessel set sail under the command of Captain Juan Roncagliolo G\u00f3mez, with a crew of 155 members and 70 cadets from the third year of the Peruvian Naval School.
