In the framework of the military operations deployed after the attack in Alto Punino, the Armed Forces of Ecuador confirmed the discovery of the bodies of two presumed members of the Irregular Armed Group Border Commandos (CDF), a dissidence of the FARC. Both allegedly participated in the ambush on May 9, in which eleven Ecuadorian military personnel were killed. The bodies were found during raking operations in the so-called \"zero point\", the area where the ambush took place, and together with them weapons, explosives and logistical material were found, which reaffirms the presence of the armed group in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bodies found correspond to two guerrilla fighters: one dressed in a tactical uniform with the armed group's insignia and the other in civilian clothes. The discovery was made as a result of a tactical search carried out by the Armed Forces in the same place of the events, in the province of Orellana. Among the elements seized were ammunition of different caliber, 40 mm grenades, backpacks, medicines, mattresses, ponchos and explosive charges, some of them already installed in mining machinery for possible attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These findings bring to three the number of CDF members killed, including alias \"Compadre,\" identified as the ringleader of this organization in Ecuadorian territory. Alias Compadre led a network linked to illegal mining activities and extortion of workers in the sector, in alliance with the criminal group Los Lobos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities have intensified search and control efforts in the area. Elite units and surveillance drones are carrying out permanent patrols, while coordinating the exchange of information with security forces in Colombia, the country from where other elements of the armed group are presumed to be operating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The use of unmanned aerial technology has facilitated terrain reconnaissance and the identification of routes used by the guerrillas. Intelligence work is also aimed at locating possible hideouts or camps in the Amazonian border sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry of National Defense reiterated that operations will continue until all those responsible for the May 9 attack are captured or neutralized, reaffirming the State's commitment to the defense of sovereignty and national security.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
