The Colombian National Army has achieved important operational results in the department of Boyac\u00e1, dismantling a mega-laboratory for processing cocaine hydrochloride and capturing an alleged financial leader of a dissident criminal structure. The operations, carried out by the First Brigade in coordination with the National Police and military intelligence units, represent significant progress in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime in the center of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Troops from the Infantry Battalion No. 1 General Simon Bolivar, attached to the First Brigade of the National Army, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police and the Intelligence Battalion No. 2, located a large-scale laboratory in the village of Balcones in the municipality of Santamaria, Boyac\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the site, 817 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in solid form and 220 gallons in liquid form were seized, together with a large quantity of chemical inputs used in the preparation of narcotics. The seized material was valued at approximately 8,770 million pesos. According to the authorities, the operation considerably affected the logistical and financial capacities of criminal networks linked to drug trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The laboratory was destroyed in a controlled manner by expert personnel, complying with all safety and environmental prevention protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a second operation carried out in the urban area of Sogamoso, troops from the Gaula Militar Boyac\u00e1, in coordination with the Sij\u00edn Deboy and the Gaula, captured an alleged ringleader known by the alias \"el Flaco\". According to intelligence reports, this individual was part of the criminal structure \"El Flaco\". Jhonier Arenas<\/em>belonging to the Manuel Marulanda V\u00e9lez Amazonas Bloc<\/em>one of the dissident factions led by alias Iv\u00e1n Mordisco<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alias El Flaco was in charge of the logistical and financial coordination of the organization in departments such as Guaviare, Caquet\u00e1 and Amazonas. He was in Boyac\u00e1 with the aim of expanding criminal support networks and gathering information to carry out extortion for the purpose of terrorist financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Authorities estimate that his actions were intended to generate more than 1,200 million pesos for illicit activities. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office for the development of the corresponding investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The First Brigade of the National Army reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of Boyacans and its determined fight against illegal armed structures.
