The joint operation with the Navy and the National Police represents a strategic blow against the Border Commandos and drug trafficking in the jungle region in the south of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Troops of the National Army, attached to the Twenty-seventh Jungle Brigade, dealt a new blow to the illegal economies of the armed group Comandos de Frontera in the department of Putumayo. The operation, carried out jointly with the Colombian Navy and in coordination with the National Police, led to the location and interception of a vessel carrying more than one ton of cocaine hydrochloride and two tons of marijuana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The military action took place in the sector known as La Esmeralda dock, in the municipality of Puerto Asis. Units from Artillery Battalion No. 27, Marine Infantry Battalion No. 30 and personnel from the Police Intelligence Section took part, acting on the basis of military intelligence information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to authorities, the seized drugs were destined for drug trafficking cartels in neighboring Brazil. This operation prevented the distribution of more than 6 billion doses of drugs on the international illegal market, significantly impacting the finances of criminal organizations dedicated to drug trafficking and armed violence in the south of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to reducing the resources of these groups, the operation helped mitigate the environmental impact caused by drug production and trafficking, protecting highly vulnerable jungle ecosystems and protecting the civilian population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sixth Division of the National Army reiterated its commitment to continue with sustained military operations, in coordination with other State institutions, to neutralize the factors of instability affecting the department of Putumayo, in accordance with the early warnings issued by the Ombudsman's Office.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
