During the May 24 ceremony, the National Government fulfilled its promise to the fallen in defense of national sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the framework of the 203rd anniversary of the Battle of Pichincha, President Daniel Noboa Azin led an act of deep symbolism and memory, paying homage to the Ecuadorian soldiers fallen in combat in the sector of Alto Punino. Through Executive Decree 648, the post mortem decoration \"War Merit Cross\", in the grade of \"Grand Cross\", was awarded to eleven soldiers who gave their lives for the homeland. Likewise, the bravery of eight surviving combatants was recognized with the same distinction in the grade of \"Commander\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The presentation of the decorations took place during the official ceremony led by President Noboa, accompanied by the Minister of National Defense, Gian Carlo Loffredo; the head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, Admiral Jaime Vela Erazo; and the general commanders of the three military branches. The ceremony was not only a solemn tribute, but also a reaffirmation of the State's commitment to those who defend its sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The awards include concrete benefits for the immediate family members of the deceased: monthly pension for life, educational scholarships up to the third level, access to housing and health services, in recognition of their sacrifice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the mass in honor of the 11 National Heroes, Minister Gian Carlo Loffredo expressed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nThe three colors that embrace us, teach us that, to reach that blue sky and that golden glory, we first had to go through the red of sacrifice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
His words summed up the collective feeling of respect and gratitude for the soldiers who gave everything for the freedom of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
