Minister Margarita Robles visited the crew of the frigate 'Crist\u00f3bal Col\u00f3n' in Dublin, highlighting Spain's prestige within NATO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For three weeks, the frigate 'Crist\u00f3bal Col\u00f3n' has represented Spain in the multinational exercise 'Formidable Shield', developed in North Atlantic waters with the participation of 11 allied countries. More than 15 ships and 40 aircraft were jointly trained in anti-aircraft defense and in the improvement of the command and control structure of the Atlantic Alliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An endowment up to the challenge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, accompanied by the Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral General Antonio Pi\u00f1eiro, visited the 187 crew members of the ship in the port of Dublin, where she wanted to personally thank them for their efforts and highlight the recognition received by the Spanish Armed Forces in the international environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The reliability that Spain enjoys within NATO is also thanks to you,\" said Minister Margarita Robles.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

These types of exercises are fundamental to improve and learn, especially in the current context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frigate Captain Juan Carlos Prada, commander of the ship, emphasized that his crew was \"more than up to the challenge\" and demonstrated \"Spain's high level\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovation and commitment in defense<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During his speech, Robles stressed the need to constantly adapt to new challenges, such as the growing use of drones in the military field. \"It is essential to keep recycling and modernizing our capabilities,\" she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister also praised the dedication of the men and women of the Armed Forces, stressing that \"the dedication of the personnel is, without a doubt, their greatest strength\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The frigate 'Christopher Columbus': a technological benchmark<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In service since 2007, the frigate F-105 is part of the 31st Surface Squadron, based at the Arsenal of Ferrol. It belongs to the F-100 class and is equipped with the AEGIS combat system and the SPY-1D (V) radar, which gives it great capacity in anti-aircraft warfare operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its most relevant missions include operations in Libya, Canada and the Mediterranean, as well as participation in multiple NATO exercises, consolidating its position as one of the most advanced assets of the Spanish Navy.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
