The Minister of Defense has praised the heroism and dedication of the troops of the Military Emergency Unit during the DANA of October 29. During her visit to B\u00e9tera, Robles attended a firefighting drill and reaffirmed the Government's commitment to the readiness and operational capacity of the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the early morning of October 29, more than 1,200 men and women of the Armed Forces were quickly mobilized to the municipalities affected by the DANA in the Valencian Community. Among them, 96 members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) were the first to intervene in rescue work, risking their own lives to save others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the words of the minister, \"hopefully history will reserve a prominent place for them because they deserve it\". The Minister of Defense stressed that Spain and Valencia \"will never be able to thank them enough\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his visit to the Third Emergency Intervention Battalion (BIEM III), located in B\u00e9tera, Robles witnessed a simulation exercise to extinguish forest fires. Drones, helicopters and heavy machinery were deployed in the operation, demonstrating the technical capacity and operational readiness of the UME.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister stressed that \"the UME trains daily throughout the year to be ready for any emergency,\" and added that this constant effort is supported by the incorporation of cutting-edge technologies that further strengthen its effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Military Emergency Unit is fully prepared to face the upcoming fire season. Its continuous training, together with the most advanced logistical and technological support, allows it to offer a quick and efficient response to forest fires, snowfalls and floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
