The Hospital de Especialidades de las Fuerzas Armadas No. 1 becomes a national reference with advanced technology for oncology treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an official ceremony headed by the Minister of National Defense, Gian Carlo Loffredo, the new and modernized radiotherapy area of the Armed Forces Specialties Hospital No. 1 was inaugurated, a milestone in specialized medical care in the country. This unit becomes the only one in the Ecuadorian public health network with state-of-the-art technology for cancer treatment, benefiting more than 6 million people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project, promoted with the support of the National Government led by President Daniel Noboa, and through the Project for Access and Improvement of the Quality of Radiotherapy Treatment, has provided the hospital with equipment such as linear accelerators, integration of magnetic resonance imaging, SPECT, CT simulator and the Identify system for precise localization of treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These state-of-the-art tools improve therapeutic efficacy, reduce side effects and allow critical areas to be targeted with greater precision, significantly increasing recovery rates for both military and civilian patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his speech, Minister Loffredo stressed that this advance is not only a technical improvement, but a concrete expression of the Defense sector's commitment to the integral well-being of the Armed Forces and society. \"The defense of a country does not begin or end on the battlefield. It begins in hospitals, in homes, in the hearts of those who never give up,\" he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project not only benefits military personnel, but also users of the national health system: ISSFA, ISSPOL, IESS, SOLCA and hospitals of the Ministry of Public Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the techniques available are intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc radiation therapy (VMAT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), as well as advanced 3D and 4D planning systems, artificial intelligence and virtual reality applied to cancer treatment. The new unit is also equipped to offer therapies such as stereotactic radiotherapy and real-time adaptive treatments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
