In a key operation for security in the south of the country, National Army troops located a gigantic illegal warehouse with more than 800 kilograms of explosives belonging to the armed group Comandos de Frontera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the village of La Rosa, municipality of Puerto As\u00eds (Putumayo), units of the anti-explosives group of the Twenty-seventh Jungle Brigade - attached to the Sixth Army Division - located a clandestine storage center where a mixture of ammonium nitrate and ACPM, an input used for the manufacture of homemade explosives, was being stored. The operation, the result of intelligence work and patrols, made it possible to thwart the possible production of more than 2,500 antipersonnel mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to military intelligence information, this war material would be used by the illegal armed group Comandos de Frontera on rural roads in Putumayo, Caquet\u00e1, Amazonas and Cauca, especially in corridors used by peasant and indigenous communities. The discovery was made in a jungle area, close to a population center, which posed an imminent risk to the civilian population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The explosive material was moved under strict security measures to a controlled area, where deactivation experts proceeded to safely destroy it, thus neutralizing a serious threat to the life and integrity of the inhabitants of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This result represents a resounding blow to the logistical and operational capacity of the Border Commandos and constitutes a significant advance in the fight against the use of means and methods prohibited by International Humanitarian Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
