With more than 4,000 flight hours accumulated between operations and training, the Combat Air Command No. 4 (CACOM 4) of the Colombian Aerospace Force reported significant advances in safety, training and social projection during the first six months of the year in the central region of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From its base in Melgar, Tolima, this tactical unit led 40 joint, coordinated and interagency operations together with the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, with the aim of affecting the criminal capabilities of the residual armed groups present in the departments of Tolima and Huila. These actions led to the capture of 91 people and seizures that include 116 grams of cocaine hydrochloride and about 9,900 grams of marijuana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During this semester, CACOM 4 also developed 51 social projection activities through the unarmed effort, benefiting 1,268 people in rural areas through welfare days, institutional campaigns and community outreach led by the Integral Action Section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These spaces strengthen trust between the security forces and the civilian population, and make it possible to bring essential social services to communities historically affected by violence and marginalization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the area of instruction, the Command reaffirmed its leadership as a specialized training center through the International Helicopter School for the Armed Forces. During the semester, dozens of national students completed key phases of their helicopter training, including practical sessions with state-of-the-art simulators that raise safety and proficiency standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In particular, the program received four officers from the Chilean Air Force, who are currently undergoing training as part of the international cooperation agreements. This collaboration strengthens strategic defense ties and projects Colombia as a regional reference in aeronautical training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
