In a solemn ceremony presided over by His Majesty King Felipe VI, the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, reiterated that Spain is a serious country committed to its international allies, highlighting the reliability of the Armed Forces within NATO. The ceremony closed the XXVI Armed Forces Staff Course, in which diplomas were awarded to 144 officers, 117 Spanish and 27 from 20 allied and friendly countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During her speech, Robles stressed that Spain seeks solid relations with its partners, but from the firmness of a State that fulfills its responsibilities: \"Spain wants to have the best relations with all its partners and allies, but does not accept lessons from anyone\". She also stressed that the Spanish Armed Forces are a source of national and international pride for their commitment, preparation and humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before the presentation of diplomas, the King received in audience the Army Commander \u00c1lvaro Guzm\u00e1n, number one in the course, to whom he presented a decoration. He also distinguished Lieutenant Colonel Ian Lewis from the United Kingdom as the most outstanding student among the international representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The General Staff Course (CEMFAS), considered CESEDEN's most demanding course, trains career military officers to advise the senior management of the Ministry of Defense and international organizations. It lasts one year, divided into four phases: Basic, National Defense and Operations Planning, Specific, and Application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the countries represented were the United States with three graduates, followed by Mexico, Peru, France, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
