The 11th Engineer Specialties Regiment of the Spanish Army has received an emotional recognition for its outstanding participation during the Dana that hit the Valencian Community. The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, visited the 'General Arroquia' barracks in Salamanca, where she decorated 25 soldiers with the commemorative medal Dana 2024, on behalf of the Ministry and all the citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From November 2023 to April 2024, more than 1,200 members of the regiment worked in 17 relays to support the municipalities affected by the floods. During that time, they carried out tasks that went far beyond the strictly technical or logistical: they helped the elderly, cleaned streets, drained water, assessed structural damage, repaired roads, and set up spaces such as the trade fair to house the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the most important milestones of their deployment was the installation of three military bridges, fundamental to recover the connection between municipalities that were cut off from each other. \"Their sacrifice and empathy have been essential to restore normality,\" said Minister Robles, visibly moved during the medal ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chief of Staff of the Army, Army General Amador Ense\u00f1at, also praised their work: \"You have the recognition and admiration of the man who is your boss,\" he said, highlighting the professionalism of the regiment, which has left a deep mark on Valencian society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The presence of the Government delegate in Castilla y Le\u00f3n, Nicanor Sen, closed the event with a message of institutional support and gratitude to those who, as Robles said, \"in difficult times show their true strength\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 11th Engineer Specialties Regiment not only acts in the national territory in emergency situations, but also plays an active role in international missions such as the 'Libre Hidalgo' operation in Lebanon, the deployment in Latvia or the Antarctic Campaign, where they build scientific infrastructures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, they have participated in 14 training modules of the EUMAM mission, which reaffirms their versatility and capacity to respond in any context, whether in conflict or reconstruction situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
