In a solemn ceremony at the Army Headquarters, the Ministry of Defense has paid tribute to the professional excellence of 17 general officers and one commissioner of the National Police. All of them have received Grand Crosses of the Royal and Military Order of San Hermenegildo and the Military Merit with white badge, in recognition of their dedication, values and service to Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the ceremony, the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, stressed that \"there is no greater decoration and satisfaction than to have dedicated a life to others\", in reference to the career of the honorees. She also made a call to \"transmit to the new generations the importance of building a better country\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister praised the work of the awardees, highlighting their vocation of service and loyalty: \"You are an example of humility, dedication and discretion, qualities that not only this Ministry is grateful for, but also all Spaniards who feel safe thanks to your work\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Army Chief of Staff, Army General Amador Ense\u00f1at, had words for the families of the honorees, highlighting their fundamental role: \"Without their unconditional support, sacrifices and renunciations, it would not have been possible to reach this level of excellence in the military vocation\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the most outstanding was Brigadier General Jos\u00e9 De Meer, former head of the Spanish contingent in Iraq, who received a double distinction. Also recognized were the lieutenant general of the Civil Guard Manuel Navarrete, a specialist in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and the general commissioner of Citizen Security, Juan Carlos Castro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Grand Crosses awarded reward constancy, exemplary conduct and outstanding services.
