The mission of the High Readiness Maritime Headquarters is to contribute to peacetime maritime surveillance and to be prepared to operate in deterrence and defense situations, in the face of emerging threats and crisis scenarios. To this end, its response capability is designed to be activated within a maximum of five days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The command's floating base is aboard the ship 'Castilla', where 186 military personnel operate, ready to carry out tasks of monitoring, planning, logistical support and direction of allied operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to assuming command, the Spanish headquarters completed a demanding certification process that lasted more than a year. It participated in three NATO exercises and met the required operational capability standards, achieving mission capable qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
