
Spain maintains an outstanding presence in NATO missions in Latvia, Slovakia and Romania. This was underlined by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, during a videoconference with the deployed contingents, in which she thanked them for their efforts and acknowledged the fundamental role they play in the stability of the region.
During the connection, Robles highlighted the context of tension in the area: "Romania, Slovakia and Latvia, due to their geographical situation, live in fear and uncertainty. However, the Spanish contribution is synonymous with security and professionalism". Accompanied by the JEMAD, the minister personally thanked the deployed soldiers: "You enhance our country and materialize Spain's commitment to the Atlantic Alliance".
Robles insisted that Spain is "a serious and reliable partner in NATO", whose capabilities and personnel contribute directly to peace and security in Europe.
Spain currently has a presence in all three countries with a total of more than 1,600 employees:
The contingent leaders underlined "the very high recognition of Spain in this area", and stressed the pride of contributing to the common European defense under the Spanish flag. This deployment not only reflects the country's operational capability, but also its strong commitment to Euro-Atlantic security.
