Strategic blow to ELN: Alias 'El Negro' captured in western Huila
The joint operation between the Army and the National Police thwarts the expansion of the armed group into this area of the country.
In a joint operation led by troops of the National Army, through the Ninth Brigade, and in coordination with the National Police, was captured aka. el NegroJuan Carlos Chihuezo Pazzu, second leader of the company Juan Carlos Chihuezo Pazzu of the Manuel Vásquez Castaño Front of the ELN. Alias el NegroThe 39-year-old had an arrest warrant for crimes such as aggravated criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, and homicide. His criminal record includes coordination of terrorist actions, forced recruitment of minors and murders of social leaders, causing anxiety in large areas of Cauca and Huila.

His capture represents a significant blow to the ELN structure, preventing its territorial expansion into western Huila. The authorities emphasized that this result was possible thanks to timely information provided by citizens, reinforcing the essential role of the community in the fight against organized crime.
